We've just returned from our January 2012 trip to Nicaragua. As of now, we have five K-12 students still with us (they attend a parochial school and are therefore exempt from the FSLN uniform project), and four fulltime university students. Three more are preparing for their final exams, and expect to graduate within the year.

In February 2011, SPROUT provided uniforms, shoes, and school supplies to a total of 152 K-12 students. The majority are from the tiny coastal community of Tolasmaidas, located in Rivas, SW Nicaragua, on the shores of Lake Nicaragua.  The others are from several nearby communities. 

In the five years since we began assisting students, we have helped over 200 families, the majority in K-8. While our new direction will reduce those numbers, we feel the quality of the assistance more than compensates.
